The Iron County Fair looks like it will have it all this year! There are some fun activities for kids which caught my attention. My kids would enjoy the parade, petting zoo, and the sawdust scramble. There is also a carnival, contests, a rodeo, and a car show. Below is a schedule of events:



Friday, Aug 31
Exhibits: Noon - 10 pm
Concessions: 3 pm - midnight
Carnival: 4 pm - midnight
Petting Zoo: 3 pm - 7 pm
Entertainment Tent: 3:30 pm - 7 pm

Broken Heart Rodeo: Grandstands, 7 pm ($6 Adults, $3 Children, Students $5)

Peach Days


Annual Hurricane Peach Days
August 31 – September 1, 2012

Peach Days is an event my family never misses. There are fun games and bouncy houses that the kids enjoy. My husband loves all the food choices and he is already thinking about the Hawaiian chicken that is sure to be at a food booth again this year. It is held at the Hurricane Community Center which is on the main drag in Hurricane. Here are a few of the activities you can look forward to:

  • Booths with commercial and homemade goods

Teen Night Games


Glow! Night Games

September 8, 2012
8-11pm

The Washington City Community Center is hosting a fun night of glow in the dark games for teens ages 15-18. The cost is $10, but if you run by the Washington City Community Center now you can grab a $2 off coupon found on a flier just inside the door. The coupon expires September 1st. Or you can register online at Washington City. There is a limit of 150 participants. 

Some of the activities include: Human Bowling Ball, Capture the Flag, and Water Balloon Volleyball
There will be some snacks provided, but the concession stand will also be open.

Free Menchies


Menchies Customer Appreciation Day

11am – Midnight

We took the kids to Menchies this week for some delicious frozen yogurt (mine may have been more candy topping than yogurt) and we saw that this Saturday is Customer Appreciation Day! The first 40 customers of the day will receive free gift bags. All day long you can buy one yogurt and get one FREE. There will also be free Menchie color-in tee shirts. 

Activities include: 
1-4pm Balloon artist
2-4pm The Planet 94.1 live broadcast
3-5pm Face painting for everyone

There will be raffle winners every hour. Menchie will be there, will you?

The Washington County Libraries always have fun and educational activities and this weekend is no exception. There are Book Clubs, Movies, and other club events. The activities are family friendly and FREE!

Enterprise Cornfest



Enterprise Cornfest

Enterprise is holding their annual Cornfest Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 10am-4pm. Of course you can enjoy some fresh corn, but there is also vintage cars, kid's activities, live entertainment and much more. All proceeds from the Cornfest benefit the Enterprise Parks & Recreation and the Enterprise Elementary School. The Cornfest is located at the Enterprise Elementary School, 200 South 100 East.

Outdoor Movie


Sunset on the Square

This Friday, August 24, 2012 you can take the whole family to enjoy a FREE outdoor movie. The movie will be shown on the lawn of St. George Town Square, 100S. & Tabernacle. Be sure to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and treats. The movie begins at dusk.

We have company in town this week and we are planning to take all the kids. This would also be a fun activity to celebrate the end of the second week of school.

The Fair opens today! It is free entrance to the fair and only $3 to park. I like the Washington County Fair on Facebook and saw in a post that a train will be giving free rides from the parking lot to the entrance this year. What a great way to start the fun.

Are you ready to stuff yourself in one of the eating contests? All contests are located at the contest pavilion (near the large outdoor arena). Here is a schedule:

Coral Cliffs Cinema 8 in Hurricane, Utah will be showing free movies for the Washington County Fair celebration. You can get the free tickets to the movies at Maverik, Stouts Home Furnishings, Ted & Allens Restaurant, or at the door. My family looks forward to the Washington County Fair every year. Look for a copy of the fair magazine which lists all the activities. I picked up my copy at the Washington City Community Center.

Here are a few things you can look forward to:

  • Food eating contests every day with awesome prizes.
  • Demolition Derby Saturday evening at the Outdoor Arena (get your tickets early).
