The Dixie Arizona Strip Interpretive Association in conjunction with the Dixie National Forest Service will be having a "Free Kids Fishing Day" at the Pine Valley Reservoir this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. They will have some fishing poles to use or you can bring your own and they will provide bait. 
There will be a "Little Minnow Fishing Booth" for toddlers and face painting. There will also be a concession stand with soda, water, ice cream and popsicles.

Registration is required to insure they have enough bait and fishing pole.

“Road Respect, Hurricane” is the final day of an epic statewide, week-long education campaign for car & bicycle safety. The Metric Century starts at 7am at the Hurricane Community Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony for Washington County's first officially designated bike route. The new route winds through Hurricane and around Sand Hollow Reservoir, returning back to Hurricane. The Metric Century riders will continue to Springdale for the ‘Road Respect, Springdale’ Festival where they will meet the original 25 Road Respect cyclists as they finish their statewide journey. All cyclists will continue back to Hurricane to celebrate the final leg of the Road Respect Campaign with the Family Festival.

Volunteer at Zion Natl Park

Volunteer At Zion
Zion National Park has started a weekly volunteer program for the public. Visitors and local residents have an opportunity to help improve the park's appearance, enhance visitor experiences, and contribute to resource management efforts.

You can drop-in and volunteer every Friday through November. Just meet at 9:00 a.m. at the Zion Canyon Visitor Center Shuttle Stop. Bring water, sunscreen, sturdy walking shoes, and a hat. Gloves and tools will be supplied. Projects will last two to three hours and require no prior knowledge or training.

The racing divisions are as follows:

1.  The Big Wheel Derby - 5 yrs old and under
2.  Do-it-yourself Derby - any two-wheel, un-motorized, creation may race
3.  Mommy Moto - Get all your Moms out there for fun.
4.  Fast and the Furious - all those who want a real challenge (we'll have multiple motos here)
5.  Girls Rule - get those girls on the track
6.  Driving Miss Daisy Derby - for those more "mature" (old)

Picure Book Readers - Read/listen to 10 books a week. Record them in the reading log provided by the library and get weekly prizes.

Junior Fiction Readers - Read 8 books of 50+ pages for a total of 400 pages or more through the 8 week program. 50 pages = weekly repuirement for prize.

If children complete all 8 weeks of the Summer Reading program, they will recieve a book and be entered into a grand prize drawing.

The Utah Summer Games is an Olympic-style sports festival for athletes of all ages and abilities open to residents of the state of Utah. For the past 26 years, the Utah Summer Games has conducted this event in Cedar City, Utah with an average total of 9,600 participants, 50 thousand spectators, and 1,000 volunteers in attendance each year. Add all that together and you have one of the premier sporting events in Utah.

Outdoor Adventure Fest held on Cedar City Historic Downtown Main Street (University Blvd to 200 N) admission is FREE. Celebrate the great outdoors with the latest in outdoor power sports, equipment, and gear, plus a Kid's Adventure Zone, OHV Ride, equipment demos, vendors, food, live entertainment and so much more. Meet at Gunlock Reservoir at 9:00 am.
  1. 20 min. Transition clinic, learn how to properly set-up your transition and what gear you need to remember.
  2. 10 min.  Tri clothing – Fabrics, and what’s important when choosing an outfit. By the Pearl Izumi Rep.
  3. Short swim in Gunlock Reservoir and Zoot Wetsuit demo.
  4. Bike ride out and back up through the town of Gunlock.
  5. Short run and Pearl Izumi Tri Shoe Demo – Rhielle with Pearl Izumi will be analyzing running form, helping with form and giving running tips.
There will be a raffle after for everyone that comes for Free Pearl Izumi Tri Gear, Pair of Pearl Izumi Shoes, and St George Running Center Gear and Gift Cards.
