Long before trail running became popular, Bryce Thatcher was running to the tops of mountains in light-weight road running shoes. He set many speed records including the current ascent/descent record of the Grand Teton of three hours and six minutes, which included negotiating glacier ice and free climbs of airy cliffs. He also studied sports medicine in Boulder, Co and worked to expand the limits of human endurance.
His passion led him to become the inventor of the hydration pack and to create packs suitable for his unique (at that time) sport. Later, he started Ultimate Direction to bring his innovations to a growing sport. After selling Ultimate Direction to Sierra Designs where he continued designing for several years, he went to work designing hydration products for Nathan Sports, which, during his time there, went from a lower tier running-pack company to an International leader in hydration. Most packs you see on the shelves today are Bryce’s designs or iterations of his designs. He is very excited that his goals to provide on-going innovation to the running community are now being fulfilled at UltrAspire.
