Fishing in the Rain

My kids and I attended the Free Fishing Derby on Saturday, April 9th and had a great time despite the cold, cold weather. I first parked by the pond on Snow Canyon Parkway and thought the event had been canceled. We got out and tried to fish anyway.
Then some very nice volunteers stopped by to let us know that the Fishing Derby was taking place across the street and down the road at a lower pond. We jumped in the car and zipped down there.
We borrowed a pole and power bait from the sponsors and had a good time. We didn't catch anything, but pretty much everyone else there did. My kids both received new fishing poles! Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers. You made this a great event even though it was chilly.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!
To my knowledge, the Kayenta Art Festival, the Run 4 Kids 5K & 10K, and the Fishing Derby have NOT been canceled due to bad weather. Unless there is lightning, the Run 4 Kids and the Fishing Derby  probably won't be cancelled. I doubt the you can do much with chalk when rain is pouring down though, so the Kayenta Art Festival may end up be cancelled or reschedule.
